Laura and AL (and the production team) met working at Amazon fulfillment center in Illinois. They started this production company with the belief that they would use their transferable skills from other areas in their lives as a foundation for this production company. Laura came from an author, motivational speaker, podcaster, and modeling industry. AL came from working behind the camera in the motion picture industry in Chicago and Los Angeles, watching and learning from directors - Sophie Muller (Sinead O’Connor – emperors new clothes/music video), Michael Blieden (Sirens/TV), Joe Chappelle (Chicago fire/TV), Zach Snyder (Batman vs Superman/movie) and Spike Lee (Chi-Raq/movie).
As the founders of freedom productions, they want to help others follow their dream of having a career in the film industry; therefore, they are willing to accept potential crew members and actors with little or no experience in filmmaking, who show promise of learning one of the many crafts in the motion picture industry. Presently, these positions are non-paying, but the intent is for these positions to move into paid positions once the production company gains traction and revenue is generated. Using best practices from other areas of their professional lives, knowing success is achieved by starting small and build from there; they believe following their dream step-by-step, God will eventually make it successful.
From a technical perspective, they are starting out using what they have: iPhone 15 max pro shooting in Codec - Apple ProRes 422/4K/Apple Log-HDR, Blackmagic Camera, Vinci, Da Vinci Resolve 19 video editor, Comica VM30 2.4G Super Carioid Condenser Wireless Shotgun Microphone, and Logic Pro for music production.
As they continue to produce projects, their goal is to move to more professional equipment, crew, and eventually seeing their productions on Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney, Hulu, Apple TV, and the myriad of the growing outlets for film content. And one day maybe even on the Big Screen, a theatrical release of one of their productions.
